ALICIA SMITH | Executive Director

Alicia Smith has more than 20 years of extensive experience in nonprofit development, fundraising, communication, and event management.

Originally from Shreveport, Louisiana, Alicia's journey began with a profound understanding of community needs and the power of collective action. While pursuing her BA in Sociology at the University of Louisiana in Monroe, she served as an Americorp member with the YMCA, where she initiated community-based programs for youth in Northeast Louisiana.

Starting as an administrative assistant, Alicia's career trajectory has seen her assume diverse roles and responsibilities, including Development Associate, Director of Communications, and Director of Events. Each position has contributed to her robust skill set and holistic comprehension of nonprofit operations.

A significant highlight of Alicia's career includes her impactful role at the Dikembe Mutombo Foundation. Here, she spearheaded initiatives that significantly improved health, education, and quality of life for individuals domestically and abroad, particularly in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

Throughout her professional journey, Alicia has collaborated with renowned organizations in Metro Atlanta and the United States, including Special Olympics, CARE International, Fullbright Scholars, Friends of Africa, WOGO, UNICEF, Medshare International, and the NBA.

Alicia finds great inspiration and strength in her family, who provide her with constant support. She is a devoted wife and proud mother to two daughters, two sons, and a cherished furry friend named Chaka. Fueled by her desire to positively impact the world, Alicia is committed to touching the lives of those around her and creating a lasting change.
